- What is a Sector Skills Agreement?
Sector Skills Agreements (SSAs) map out what skills employers need their workforce to have and how these skills will be developed.
SSAs put employers at the forefront, giving them real influence over how the skills of their workforce are developed.
The SSA will set out how partners will work together to secure the necessary supply of learning and development to meet skills needs and will be designed to ensure that 'the skills the sector wants and needs are the skills the sector gets'.Skills for Care and the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) are leading the development of the SSA for adult social care and children's services in England.
Yorkshire and the Humber Region are currently seeking sign up to our Regional Sector Skills Agreement from key stakeholders in the region.
Sign up involves identifying how you will work with and contribute toward the key objectives outlined in the agreement. Please contact the regional office for further information. Below is a downloadable copy.
Please call 01904 461050 for any further enquiries.

- How can I access funding?
Funding can be a minefield, with different streams designed for different individuals and organisations needs.
Some funding can only be awarded if learners have reached an NVQ level 2 and others if they have not, for example Train2Gain.
Some funding streams are routed through training providers, while others go directly to the employers, like TSI funding from Skills for Care. Statutory, mandatory, it can be hard to know where to turn.
That is why Skills for Care Yorkshire and the Humber have produced a leaflet on the different types of funding that may be available from Local Authorities, the Learning and Skills Council, Skills for Care and others.
It is important to add that while we strive to ensure that the information is correct, different Local Authorities often run different schemes and some funding is time limited.
We have also produced a leaflet called "TSI Funding – Are you Missing Out" which explains how to Claim TSI funding.
If you require any assistance please call the regional on 01904 461050 or email yorkshireandhumbermail@skillsforcare.org.uk.
